about

Obesity continues to be a problem that only seems to be escalating in the United States and around the globe. Armed with portionware, smarter choices can be made regarding portion size. And, it is more fun than using a standard measuring cup!

Portionware® is the sister product of Mesü®, a porcelain set of measuring bowls, created by Jennifer Panepinto. Mesü began as Jennifer’s thesis project while studying for her Masters in Design at the School of Visual Arts. Although the project only called for the product to be conceptualized and designed—with a promise from her thesis professor to purchase her first 100 sets if she got them produced—Jen set out to find a factory to manufacture her design. Within months, Jennifer was not only successful in securing a manufacturer for Mesü, but additionally partnered with two marketing and sales professionals who helped her bring Mesü to market.

Mesü has garnered enormous press including features in publications such as ID, Step, How, Real Simple, Women’s Health, and Self to name a few. Additionally, Mesü has been featured on television segments including HGTV’s I Want That!, NBC’s Extra: What’s Hot, what’s new? And The Today Show with Katie Couric. Mesü successfully sold through retail channels such as QVC and Target.com and was also selected by the design committee to be featured in the collection in the Museum of Modern Art’s Design Store. Mesü won Best Design in the Tabletop category from The International Housewares Association in 2005 as well as the award for Best Information Design from The American Institute of Graphic Arts in 2004. Jennifer was also featured on MSNBC’s The Big Idea, with Donny Deutsch to discuss her success as an entrepreneur in 2007. Mesü went out of production shortly after.

Although it has taken a little longer than expected, We are pleased to finally introduce Portionware, which solves the challenges that were encountered with Mesü. Portionware is the new, more affordable, versitile, and durable solution. While Mesü gained a great amount of recognition, our hope is that Portionware will become a household name.
